2. Four tough climbs to tackle

Enjoy the flat part as much as you can at the beginning, because you will not see more of it for the rest of the day!. You'll first start with the Col de Braus (10km at 6,6%) before riding downhill towards Sospel to hit the first slopes of the Col de Turini (20,7km at 5,7%). These two first climbs have often been featured in the Monte Carlo Rally.

Past the halfway mark, it's on towards Col de la Colmiane (7,5km at 7,1%) which has welcomed three stage finishes of Paris-Nice.

The last one is also the steepest, with an average slope of 7,1% over 15,7km, you better have saved some energy to reach the top of it and avoid hitting the wall like Eddy Merckx did in 1975, the last time this climb was on the Tour de France's menu.

3. Ride on closed roads

One of the standout features of L'Étape du Tour is the privilege of cycling on fully closed roads. As you tackle these challenging climbs, you'll enjoy the same road conditions as the pros during the Tour de France. The traffic-free experience allows you to focus on the stunning landscapes and the thrill of the ride.

4. Nice, a city built around cycling

Starting from the beautiful city of Nice, known for its cycling-friendly atmosphere, L'Étape du Tour 2024 takes riders on a journey through the breathtaking Alpes-Maritimes landscapes.
The Alpes-Maritimes region, aptly named for its impressive hills, beckons cyclists with a diverse array of climbs. From the renowned Col de la Bonette, often hailed as Europe's highest paved road, to the up-and-coming gem, Col de Turini, characterized by its abundance of switchbacks, and even the hidden treasures like Mont Chauvre overlooking the city of Nice, there's a climb for every rider. From challenging hors category climbs to scenic coastal spins, Italian border crossings, gravel adventures, classic cols, and hidden trails. It's a cyclist's paradise with endless possibilities.
