L’Étape Ciudad de México by Tour de France
The iconic Paseo de la Reforma, framed by the emblematic Angel de la Independencia, was the starting point for the 8th edition of L’Étape Ciudad de México by Tour de France, a unique event that brought together 2,000 cyclists for an unforgettable celebration, allowed cyclists of all levels to experience the magic of the legendary Tour de France.
A Route Through Mexico City
Starting at dawn, at 6:30 a.m., participants set off on a route showcasing the stunning sights of Mexico City. The journey began on Avenida Reforma and ended near the monumental flag at Campo Marte. Along the way, cyclists passed through iconic landmarks such as Ciudad Universitaria, the Torres de Satélite, and the World Trade Center. With a mix of historic and modern buildings, participants enjoyed a vibrant and contrasting urban landscape.
Three Distances, a Unique Experience
The race was designed to cater to cyclists of all skill levels and ages, with categories ranging from 18 to 65+ years old. Participants could choose from three distances tailored to their abilities:
- Sprint Stage: 34 km
- Short Stage: 60 km
- Long Stage: 110 km
L’Étape Ciudad de México offered a platform for beginners and experienced riders alike to embrace the thrill and challenge that defines the Tour de France, in a safe and exciting environment.

The event was not only a physical challenge for cyclists but also a celebration of the sporting spirit and cultural richness of Mexico City. With impeccable organization, breathtaking views, and the support of institutions like the Mexico City Institute of Sports.

El Diablo, the iconic and energetic Tour de France superfan! Traveling all the way from Germany, El Diablo brought his enthusiasm, costume, and boundless energy to cheer on the participants. Known for his passion and presence at cycling events worldwide, his appearance added a unique touch to the event, inspiring cyclists and spectators alike with his infectious spirit.
The next and the last L’Étape Mexico by Tour de France of 2024 is set to take place the 15th of December 2024 in the stunning coastal city of Acapulco, promising participants a breathtaking ride along its iconic beaches and vibrant scenery.
