Relive L'Etape Phitsanulok by Tour de France!
The 1st edition of l'Etape Phitsanulok by Tour de France took place on December, 4th and gathered around 1,000 cyclists that had the chance to ride on fully closed road in the beautfidul moutains and countrysides of Phitsanulok.
For its first edition, L'Etape Phitsanulok by Tour de France has been a real success for the riders and all people who came to cheer and enjoy the atmosphere of the event all along the route. At 6:00AM on December, 4th, around 1,000 riders took the start of one of the two race formats : the Race (166km) or the Ride (66km). With more than 20 nationalities represented in the peloton, L'Etape Phitsanulok was also an international success.
THE RACES
At six o'clock in the morning, the firts riders took the start from Chan Royal Palace, in the city center. After a 7km neutral start, the route left the town in direction of Phitsanulok's surroundings. The participants of the Ride went to the East and followed a flat road that crossed several villages where many fans were cheering them on! The rest of the cyclists took the direction of the North for a 166km journey among Phitsanulok's hills & countryside.
The Race, queen stage of the event, was won by Shane Goodhew. The 31 years old rider managed to succeed after a tough fight with two former champions of L'Etape Thailand, Alex Destribois-Courdroy (2022 champion) and Valentin Midey (2019 champion). They took the lead after the first climb and rode together until the final sprint. In the women competition, three thaï cyclists managed to reach the podium. Salakruthai Inkakitti crossed the line before two riders from KomKom, the famous local cycling club, Emma Johansson & Kamolada Kaoprod.
